FREDERIC LENA

Dessinateur, illustrateur, artiste peintre…

Né en 1970 à Tours, Frédéric LENA est originaire de Cangey, une commune des bords de Loire, proche dʼAmboise. Il intègre en 1986 lʼécole dʼArts Graphiques Brassart à Tours, puis poursuit sa formation à lʼécole Ethique de Blois (anciennement C&M).

Depuis toujours le dessin et la peinture sont indissociables de son quotidien. Il travaille très tôt sur la maîtrise des différentes techniques de dessin (fusain, mine de plomb, plume, encre de Chine, aquarelle, crayon bic, etc…) puis se lance dans la peinture dès 1987 remportant de nombreux concours régionaux.
A ses débuts, les premières sources dʼinspiration sont les paysages de bord de Loire et les vignobles quʼil retranscrit dans un style assez réaliste. Puis, il se détache de ce réalisme et adopte un style figuratif bien à lui. Chaque toile devient le support à une recherche technique et chromatique dans laquelle le thème du reflet et de la lumière prennent une place prépondérante. Selon lui, la technique doit sʼadapter à lʼidée pour la servir et non lʼinverse.
Son univers évolue doucement, passant de la notion de reflet à celle de miroir sur un autre monde auquel il ajoute une réflexion métaphysique axée sur lʼespace-temps. Plus les thématiques abordées se complexifient, plus sa peinture devient épurée.
Ses toiles évoquent le temps qui passe, la fuite vers le futur, lʼimbrication des éléments naturels qui nous entourent, les recherches dʼambiances, la musicalité de la peinture, ou encore lʼéquilibre des forces.
Sa volonté dʼépurer lʼamène à travailler le ton sur ton, ou à lʼinverse les tons contrariés tout en jouant avec la matière. Ses tableaux suscitent alors des sentiments immédiats.
En somme, sa peinture reflète le mystère de la vie et à travers ses questionnements sur la notion dʼéquilibre du monde, ce sont nos propres points de rupture quʼil met en avant.

Depuis 2019, suite à une rencontre avec dix spationautes Français et un astrophysicien, il réinvente sa peinture  en s’inspirant de notions astrophysiques et astronomiques. Il crée son univers « Rythmes cosmiques » et propose un nouveau mouvement artistique nommé « Arscientisme ». (Utiliser la science comme source d’inspiration de son art).

Frédéric LÉNA was born in 1970 in Tours and spent his childhood and adolescence in Amboise. After studying graphic arts at the Brassart and Etic schools, and after several professional experiences, he created the Antirouille Communication agency with his sister, specialising in graphic communication and strategic consulting, which remains his professional activity to this day.

Drawing and painting have always been an integral part of his daily life. Very early on, he tried his hand at various drawing techniques using different mediums (charcoal, lead, fountain pen, Indian ink, watercolours, ballpoint pens, etc.). It was with his acrylic paintings that he gained a solid reputation in local and regional art shows. At the beginning, the source of his inspiration were the landscapes of the Loire Valley and their vineyards, painting them in a relatively realistic style. Gradually, he separated himself from this style and adopted a freer, more expressive approach. Each canvas becoming the medium for a technical and chromatic research in which the theme of reflection and light have a predominant place.
For him it is important that the technique adapts to and sustains the idea rather than the other way round.
His universe evolves slowly, passing from the notion of contemplation, to that of a mirror on another world to which he adds a metaphysical reflection centred around space and time. The more complex his themes become, the more refined his paintings are.
His paintings evoke the passing of time, an escape towards the future, the interweaving of the natural elements that surround us, the search for atmosphere, the musicality of painting, and the balance of all of these forces.
His desire to simplify leads him to work with tone on tone, or conversely with contrasting tones whilst simultaneously playing with the texture and materials. His paintings thus evoke immediate emotions and sensations.
In short, his painting reflects the mystery of life and through his questioning of the notion of balance in the world, he brings to the fore our own fears of the unknown.
